Acehnese nabbed for marijuana trafficking

JAMBI: Jambi police arrested two more Acehnese people on
Thursday for trying to traffic a total of 12 kilograms of
marijuana from Aceh to Jakarta.

Jambi Provincial Police Chief Brig. Gen. Toto Soewali said
here on Friday that the two suspects and the drugs were netted in
separate places in the Batanghari regency.

"One was nabbed from a passenger bus PMTOH while another one
was taken from another passenger bus", said Toto.

He said that over the last two months, the police had foiled
three drug smuggling cases by using a drug dog from National
Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

Previously, the police had arrested two Acehnese men,
identified as Zainuddin, 25, and Amin, 29, for trying to smuggle
50 kilograms of marijuana from Aceh through the province to
Jakarta.

Toto said the police would continue its operation to halt the
rampant smuggling of banned drugs through the province.

"The 247-kilometer trans-Sumatra Highway in the province is
quite prone to trafficking of banned drugs and narcotics such as
marijuana, shabu-shabu and ecstasy pills," he said. --Antara
