Aceh Urges Adaptive Consultancy to Mitigate Disaster Risks
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Aceh provincial government has requested the Aceh branch of the Indonesian National Association of Consultants (INKINDO) to address regional development challenges in disaster-prone areas through adaptive, sustainable, and risk-mitigation-oriented planning.
“Future development must be designed to be more adaptive, sustainable, and oriented towards disaster risk mitigation,” stated the Aceh Regional Secretary, M. Nasir, during the opening of the XI Provincial Deliberation (Musprov) of INKINDO Aceh 2026 in Banda Aceh on Monday.
M. Nasir stated that the deliberation should serve as a strategic forum to strengthen the contribution of consultants in facing increasingly complex regional development challenges. According to him, the theme of strengthening the professionalism of INKINDO members in responding to disasters and the dynamics of consultancy service regulations is highly relevant to Aceh’s current situation.
He reminded that Aceh is a region with a high level of disaster vulnerability, meaning the development process must be designed more adaptively with careful consideration of disaster risk mitigation. M. Nasir noted that the hydrometeorological disasters that hit several areas of Aceh late last year serve as an important lesson regarding the need for resilient and safe development for the community.
“The damage to infrastructure and the disruption of social and economic activities caused by floods and landslides must be a shared concern in the development planning process,” he said.
On the other hand, he mentioned that the construction sector is currently one of the largest contributors to Aceh’s economic growth, with a contribution of 1.36 per cent, followed by the trade sector at 1.27 per cent. Therefore, he noted, the role of consultancy services is vital to ensure that development is targeted, safe, efficient, and high-quality.
“From spatial planning and feasibility studies to infrastructure design and work supervision, all require high levels of competence, integrity, and professional responsibility,” he added.
During the event, M. Nasir expressed his hope that INKINDO Aceh would continue to be a solid and progressive professional organisation, capable of increasing the capacity of its members to become more professional and adaptive to the evolving regulations of consultancy services.
“It is hoped that this XI Provincial Deliberation will produce organisational leadership that is trustworthy, visionary, and capable of providing a real contribution to the future development of Aceh,” concluded M. Nasir.
