Aceh to get new cement plant

JAKARTA (JP): PT Samana Citra Agung Banda Aceh and Malaysia's
Tenggara Capital Bhd plan to set up a US$450 million cement
factory in Pidie regency, Aceh, Antara said yesterday.

PT Semen Muara Bate Tenggara, the joint venture company, will
have an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons of cement a year,
Antara reported quoting a Banda Aceh investment official.

Chairman of the Aceh Provincial Investment Coordinating Board,
Husein A. Bakar, said the company had obtained a provisional
license from the government.

"Now they are arranging for a site permit from the National
Land Agency," Husein said.

The two investors were surveying the area's potential to
supply the raw material, limestone and clay, he said. (08)
