Aceh Tamiang Flood Victims Receive Phase 2 Stimulus Funds
The government has disbursed phase II stimulus funds for repairing damaged homes to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency. This step is an effort by the government to accelerate the repair of homes affected by hydro-meteorological disasters in Sumatra, particularly those with light and moderate damage. The handover of the aid took place in a hybrid format from the Aceh Tamiang Regent’s Office Complex, Aceh, on Tuesday (21/4). The handover was led by the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno, accompanied by Interior Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian. The two also witnessed virtually the handover of aid for repairing damaged homes in Central Tapanuli Regency, led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto. Previously, the government had handed over phase one aid on 13 February 2026, led by Menko Pratikno from North Tapanuli, followed by Mendagri in Aceh Tamiang and the BNPB Head in Lhokseumawe. In his explanation, the Interior Minister, who also serves as Chair of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, emphasised that the government has prepared a structured aid scheme from the beginning based on the level of house damage, from light, moderate, to severe or lost. He explained that for lightly and moderately damaged homes, aid is provided through the respective BNPB in the amount of Rp15 million and Rp30 million. Meanwhile, handling severely damaged homes is carried out through various schemes, including the construction of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) involving ministries, agencies, and support from non-governmental parties. “Our principle is to provide aid as quickly as possible, as quickly as possible, why? So that those affected can truly repair their homes and regain their spirits,” he stressed.
