Aceh Requests Additional Cement Supply from Danantara and Home Affairs Minister

Deputy Governor of Aceh, Fadhlullah, has requested Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian and the Danantara Investment Authority to increase cement supplies to the province. The request comes in response to a scarcity that has persisted for the past month. Fadhlullah stated that the shortage is affecting the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts following hydrometeorological disasters, as well as other development activities across the region. He has also reported the issue directly to Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani and Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria. According to an evaluation by the Aceh government, the current daily demand for cement is approximately 4,200 tonnes (105,000 sacks), while the available supply capacity is only 3,700 tonnes (92,500 sacks), resulting in a daily deficit of 500 tonnes (12,500 sacks). This shortage has caused market prices to spike from around Rp70,000 per sack to Rp120,000 per sack, impacting both the public and ongoing construction projects. The provincial government is seeking central support to accelerate additional supply to meet community needs and stabilise market prices. In response to the crisis, PT Solusi Bangun Andalas, a local cement factory, has extended the operating hours of its Krueng Geukuh II terminal from 16 to 24 hours per day. The company is also supplementing local production with bulk cement shipments from outside Aceh, with the first vessel having docked at Krueng Geukuh Port on Sunday, 2 August, and further deliveries planned throughout the month.
