Aceh receives humanitarian aid from Chinese and Malaysian volunteers
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, also known as Mualem, received humanitarian aid consisting of 9,500 packages from international volunteers from China and Malaysia, which will subsequently be distributed to communities affected by the Aceh disaster.
“We express our deepest gratitude for this humanitarian aid. Volunteers from China and Malaysia have shown great concern for the conditions in Aceh following the hydro-meteorological calamity,” Mualem stated in Banda Aceh on Sunday.
The distribution of this aid was initiated by a Chinese social volunteer foundation under the auspices of the Yayasan Pelangi Kesejahteraan Masyarakat. They collaborated with international humanitarian organisations such as the Peaceland Foundation and The Blue Sky Rescue International from Malaysia.
Mualem appreciated this international solidarity, noting that the attention from Chinese and Malaysian volunteers is evidence of strong brotherhood at a time when Aceh is striving to recover from the disaster.
“This aid is very meaningful in accelerating the recovery of affected residents. Only Allah SWT can repay the kindness and sincerity of the volunteers. May this cooperation and camaraderie continue to be maintained,” Mualem said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Yayasan Pelangi Kesejahteraan Masyarakat, Sa’aduddin (Apa At), explained that the total aid prepared amounts to 9,500 packages, to be distributed in stages.
In the first phase, 500 packages containing basic food supplies and bathing equipment have already been handed over and are beginning to be distributed.
“This aid will target 15 districts/cities in Aceh that have been most severely affected. We are committed to ensuring the aid reaches the right hands in stages,” Sa’aduddin stated.
