Aceh Provincial Police Foil Distribution of 50 Kilogrammes of Cannabis
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) — The Special Team of the Aceh Provincial Police’s Narcotics Directorate has foiled the distribution of approximately 50 kilogrammes of cannabis and arrested a suspect in Bireuen Regency.
Aceh Provincial Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Joko Krisdiyanto said in Banda Aceh on Friday that the suspect, identified by the initials AW (58), is a resident of Central Aceh Regency who works as a farmer.
“AW was arrested along with the cannabis evidence on the Banda Aceh–Medan highway, specifically before Kuta Blang Bridge, in Kulu Village, Kuta Blang Sub-district, Bireuen Regency, on Sunday (15 February) at 02.54 local time,” he said.
Joko Krisdiyanto stated that the evidence seized comprised three large white gunny sacks and one small white gunny sack containing cannabis with a total weight of approximately 50 kilogrammes.
In addition, police also confiscated a black Toyota Avanza minibus with registration plate BL 1841 GW, a mobile telephone, and an identity card belonging to AW.
The mid-ranking Aceh Provincial Police officer said the narcotics case was uncovered following intelligence received by the Narcotics Directorate team on Friday (13 February).
The community tip-off indicated that cannabis was to be transported and traded using a minibus with registration plate BL 1841 GW. The vehicle was reported to have originated from the Beutong area of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province.
“Based on this information, the Narcotics Directorate team conducted an investigation. The inquiry revealed that the minibus had departed from Beutong heading towards Bireuen Regency,” he said.
