Aceh Provincial Government Urges Local Authorities to Expedite Disaster Data Validation for Recovery
The Aceh Provincial Government has requested disaster-affected regencies and cities to speed up the validation of disaster data and field verification to ensure that the recovery process can be implemented immediately.
“All regions must implement a ‘single data’ policy and a single-door reporting system to facilitate synchronisation with the central government and the National Task Force,” stated Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah in a statement in Banda Aceh on Tuesday.
The request was made by Deputy Governor Fadhlullah while leading a coordination meeting regarding the completion of hydrometeorological disaster emergency response activities in Aceh, alongside the central Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) team.
The Deputy Governor emphasised that the data to be finalised and validated by the government must include accurate victim names and addresses, post-disaster needs assessment data (Jitupasna), permanent housing, subsistence allowances, and infrastructure damage, in order to prevent discrepancies in figures between agencies.
Furthermore, he requested that local post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction posts be reactivated. “Rehab-recon posts must be fully reactivated to perform daily updates, accelerate field verification, and monitor recovery progress,” he said.
It was noted that the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), BPS (Statistics Indonesia), and various ministries/agencies are not yet fully integrated, which is hindering the acceleration of handling and aid distribution. Additionally, issues regarding executors, funding sources, and authority for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of priority infrastructure—such as roads, bridges, embankments, rivers, irrigation, schools, and health facilities—still require more intensive coordination.
Other pressing issues include the completion of permanent housing (huntap), temporary housing (huntara), and subsistence aid (jadup), which are currently hindered by administrative hurdles, land status, recipient validation, and limited basic utilities such as electricity and clean water.
In relation to these obstacles, Deputy Governor Fadhlumullah urged local governments in Aceh to be more proactive in managing proposals and coordinating with ministries and agencies to prevent delays caused by administrative issues. He also stressed that the use of additional Regional Financial Transfer (TKD) budgets must be prioritised for post-disaster recovery, in accordance with the circular letter from the Minister of Home Affairs and the primary needs of the affected communities.
“Local governments must prioritise the completion of basic community services, particularly housing, bridges, access to education, clean water, electricity, irrigation, paddy fields, health facilities, and economic assistance for affected populations,” concluded Fadhlullah.
