Aceh Post-Disaster: Mualem Says Infrastructure Only 30% Complete, Many Needs Unmet

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Governor of Aceh Muzakir Manaf (Mualem) has stated that many needs remain unmet in the post-disaster recovery efforts in Aceh. Mualem made the statement during a closed-door meeting on the post-disaster situation in Sumatra at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (25 May 2026). ‘All disaster-related issues. Disasters, infrastructure problems, all sorts of issues. In each province, many things remain unfulfilled,’ Mualem said after the meeting. According to Mualem, infrastructure recovery in Aceh has only reached 25-30 percent. ‘It’s probably around 30 percent. 25 to 30,’ he added. ‘I think it’s severe. Even national roads are causing queues; going and returning takes two or three hours,’ Mualem explained. However, Mualem claimed the power blackout issue has been fully resolved in Aceh.
