Aceh Police Urge Public Not to Panic Buy; Fuel Hoarders Will Face Firm Action
People in Aceh were queueing to buy fuel at petrol stations. The Aceh Police urged the public not to panic buy, as fuel stocks were deemed safe.
‘The Aceh Police call on all segments of society not to engage in hoarding to exploit this moment for personal profit and to the detriment of others,’ said Public Relations Head of Aceh Police Senior Commissioner Joko Krisdiyanto, quoted by detikSumut on Friday (6 March 2026).
Joko said the force will take action against those who hoard fuel. He asked residents to report if they are aware of any hoarding practices.
‘If we find hoarding that could cause a fuel shortage in Aceh, the Aceh Police will take firm action in accordance with the applicable law,’ he added.
He urged Aceh residents to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified rumours. The former Banda Aceh Police Chief confirmed that fuel stocks in Aceh are in a safe condition.
Joko also quoted Pertamina’s explanation regarding a 20-day oil reserve. According to an official statement from Misbah Bukhori, Sales Area Manager Retail Aceh for PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the figure refers to the operational fuel reserve and not to a supply shortage.
‘The 20 days referred to is the reserve. In terms of storage we can hold up to 25 to 26 days. This 20-day figure has been so for a long time,’ Joko explained, quoting Pertamina. The line of jerrycans stretched on.
