Aceh Immigration Deports 35 Foreign Nationals in First Half of 2026

The Aceh Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration recorded that 35 foreign nationals were subjected to Immigration Administrative Actions in the form of deportation during the first semester, or the period from January to June 2026. Head of the Aceh Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Tato Juliadin Hidayawan, stated in Banda Aceh on Thursday that the deportations were the result of immigration supervision and law enforcement carried out by all immigration technical implementation units in Aceh. “We will continue to strengthen supervision of the presence and activities of foreign nationals in the Aceh Province as part of efforts to maintain national security, order, and sovereignty,” he said. Throughout the first semester of 2026, the Banda Aceh Class I Immigration Office recorded the highest number of deportations with 15 people, followed by the Sabang Class II Immigration Office and the Meulaboh Class II Non-TPI Immigration Office with six people each. The Takengon Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office deported five people, and the Lhokseumawe Class II Immigration Office deported three people. Based on nationality data, the deported foreign nationals came from 11 countries: 13 from Pakistan, nine from China, three from Malaysia, two from Thailand, and one each from Germany, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Portugal, South Africa, Cyprus, and Canada. “We remind all foreign nationals in the Aceh Province to always comply with the provisions of immigration laws and regulations as well as other applicable rules in Indonesia,” he said. He also stressed that sponsors must ensure that the foreign nationals they sponsor do not misuse their residence permits or engage in activities inconsistent with the purpose of the permit. “For every violation found, we will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions, including immigration administrative actions such as deportation and blacklisting,” Tato Juliadin Hidayawan asserted. He noted that the success of foreign national supervision depends not only on the role of Immigration but also requires the support and active participation of all elements of society. “We invite the public to play an active role in monitoring foreign nationals. If you know of any foreign nationals suspected of committing immigration violations or activities not in accordance with regulations, please report it immediately to the nearest immigration office,” he said. According to him, information from the public is an important part of supporting more effective supervision of foreign nationals, so that security and order in the Aceh region can be continuously maintained. Supervision of foreign nationals is carried out continuously through immigration administrative checks, field surveillance, and follow-up on information obtained from the public or through coordination with relevant agencies. Therefore, the Aceh Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration is also continuously strengthening synergy with local governments, law enforcement officials, and the Foreign National Supervision Team to enhance the effectiveness of immigration supervision and law enforcement. “We are also committed to continuing to provide professional, accountable, and responsive immigration supervision to support the creation of a safe, orderly, and conducive situation for both the public and foreign nationals in Aceh Province,” Tato Juliadin Hidayawan said.
