Aceh Hajj Pilgrims' Deaths in Makkah Rise, Mostly Elderly and Ill

Banda Aceh - The Petugas Penyelenggara Ibadah Haji (PPIH) Aceh Embarkation reported that the number of Aceh Hajj pilgrims who died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has risen to six.

‘Yes, one Aceh Hajj pilgrim died today, bringing the total to six who have passed away in the Holy Land,’ said PPIH Aceh Embarkation Head Arijal in Banda Aceh on Monday.

The most recent case was Ibrahim Bin Abdul Kadir Nuh (74) from Kloter 10 in Pidie Regency, who died on Sunday (31 May) at King Abdul Aziz Hospital.

Previously, five Hajj pilgrims from Aceh died: Sulasry Abdul Gani (74) from Kloter 5 in Bireuen Regency on Sunday (31 May) at the Burj Al Wahda Almutamayiz Hotel in Makkah.

Two others, Maimunah Yusuf Ali (72) from Kloter 13 in Aceh Tamiang on Tuesday (26 May), and Nurwaida Muhammad Yusuf (76) from Kloter 8 in Bireuen Regency on Tuesday (26 May), died in Arafah.

The cause of death for all six was health-related issues, predominantly heart and lung conditions.

They were buried in two separate locations: Syariah Cemetery and Saraya Suhada Al Haram Cemetery.

Arijal expressed condolences for the deceased Hajj pilgrims, saying, ‘May their sins be forgiven and they be placed in Allah’s paradise, and receive a blessed hajj.’

‘And to the families, may they be granted strength and acceptance in the loss of their loved ones,’ Arijal added.
