Aceh Government Requests SAR 3,000 Waqf Compensation per Hajj Pilgrim from Baitul Asyi
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Aceh government has requested that the managers of Baitul Asyi provide waqf compensation funds to prospective Hajj pilgrims (JCH) from Aceh amounting to SAR 3,000 or the equivalent of Rp13.8 million per person (exchange rate Rp4,621).
“The Aceh government has written to request an additional amount; if last year it was 2,000 riyals, now 3,000 riyals, but we are still waiting,” said Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah during a press conference in Banda Aceh on Monday.
For information, for the 2025 Hajj season, pilgrims from Aceh received waqf compensation funds from Baitul Asyi of SAR 2,000 or approximately Rp8.7 million (exchange rate Rp4,730). This figure also increased compared to two years previously, which was around SAR 1,500 per person.
As background, JCH from Aceh receive waqf compensation funds from the Baitul Asyi hotel in Mecca each year with varying amounts for each Hajj season.
Fadhlullah stated that the exact amount of waqf funds to be provided has not yet been confirmed and will only be known at the first distribution on 10 May 2026.
However, he confidently assured that the waqf funds will not decrease and may even be higher, according to his meeting with the managers or waqf nazir of Baitul Asyi from the previous Hajj season.
“I have met the manager of Baitul Asyi, Sheikh Abullatif Baltou; this waqf fund is unlikely to decrease unless there is a disaster like before, COVID-19 and others,” he said.
“I asked until when the community will receive the waqf funds, and the answer was until the end of time,” he added.
Furthermore, he continued, to ensure the success of Hajj services in Aceh, the central government has also added 10 extra quotas for Aceh, including four for regional officials, four for ulama, and two for staff assisting in distributing the Baitul Asyi waqf.
“This year we requested additional special quotas from the centre, and we have prepared two people as staff to distribute the Baitul Asyi waqf. This is part of the government’s best service for Hajj pilgrims from Aceh,” Fadhlullah concluded.
