Aceh Government Mourns Zaini Abdullah, Recalls His Efforts to Strengthen Foundation for Progress

The Aceh government is in mourning following the death of former Governor Zaini Abdullah, who served from 2012 to 2017 and was affectionately known as Abu Doto. Government spokesperson Nurlis Effendi expressed condolences in Banda Aceh on Saturday, stating, ‘Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un, the Aceh government mourns the passing of dr Zaini Abdullah.’ The former governor died at the Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital in Banda Aceh on Saturday at approximately 12:24 PM Western Indonesia Time. Nurlis said his passing is a great loss for the people of Aceh, as he was known throughout his life as a figure who dedicated himself to the region and its people, both through his profession as a doctor and his role as a regional leader. During his tenure as governor, he contributed to various regional development efforts and the strengthening of peace, which became a crucial foundation for Aceh’s progress. His dedication and service, including the development of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, are now part of Aceh’s historical journey and will continue to be remembered by the community.
