To confirm whether Aceh’s special autonomy will be extended for another 20 years, as its current term expires next year, including the implications for the Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus). However, we have communicated with the government and, God willing, Aceh’s special autonomy and its Otsus will be extended,” Doli told journalists on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

He noted that there is a proposal to align Aceh’s Otsus with Papua’s allocation of 2.25% of the National General Allocation Fund (DAU), whereas Aceh currently receives 2% of DAU.

“Previously, during the 20-year period, it was 2% for the first 15 years, then regressed to 1% in the final years. But they no longer want this; they want a consistent 2.25%,” Doli said.

“We have already accommodated this; the next step is for negotiations between the President and the Governor,” he added.

Doli also stated that the bill includes provisions for establishing an Aceh Special Autonomy Coordination Body, which would optimise the Otsus funds to ensure they reach the intended targets.

“We propose the establishment of a Coordination Body for Special Autonomy Implementation. The issue so far, with Special Autonomy Funds in Papua and Aceh, has been that the benefits are not visibly felt by the public,” Doli said.

He added that this would allow funds to be directly transferred to regional districts or municipalities to support priority programs. However, the DPR’s Legislative Body has yet to specify the composition of the Aceh Special Autonomy Coordination Body.

“The remaining debate is over the body’s composition. In Papua’s special autonomy, government representatives are involved. However, Aceh’s representatives prefer direct control under the governor,” he said.
