Aceh fishermen held in Myanmar
BANDA ACEH (JP): The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon is asking the local administration here to help in the release of 19 Aceh fisherman currently detained in Myanmar.
The fisherman have been held since Feb. 26 and were charged with immigration violations and illegally fishing in Myanmar waters.
Antara reported that Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar A. Poerwanto on Thursday sent a facsimile to Aceh Governor Syamsuddin Mahmud, stating the fishermen would be released once they have secured travel documents and tickets to return home.
The fishermen are Mustiadi, Abdul Rani, Ramli, Tabuman Usman, Syahrial, Ysabrul Ali, Syakban Jali, Muhammad, M. Amin, Byas Ali, Nurdin, Zulkipli, M. Amin, M. Jafar, Jaelani Jati, Muh. Jamil, Basiron Basir, Rajubaini. (rms)
