The Aceh Provincial Government has officially extended the transitional emergency status towards post-hydrometeorological disaster recovery for 90 days to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the affected areas. “We have established the extension of the transitional emergency status to hydrometeorological disaster recovery in Aceh for 90 days, effective from 28 April to 30 July 2026,” said Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah, familiarly known as Dek Fadh, in Banda Aceh on Tuesday evening. The decision was conveyed during a virtual coordination meeting with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Aceh at the Governor’s Office. In his directives, Fadhlullah instructed all Aceh Regional Work Units (SKPA) and relevant stakeholders to immediately implement several priority measures. This includes accelerating the construction of temporary housing (huntara), logistics distribution, and the provision of basic services such as electricity and clean water for the affected communities. “In addition, social protection guarantees for disaster victims or evacuees must be continued, as well as the acceleration of land provision for permanent housing construction (huntap),” he stated. “All parties are urged to enhance preparedness against potential subsequent disasters and to prepare the rehabilitation and reconstruction stages thoroughly,” he added. He further emphasised the need for harmonisation and synchronisation of authorities between agencies, as well as certainty of sustainable funding, to ensure the recovery process runs optimally.
