Aceh ends disaster transition period, permanent recovery phase begins

The Aceh government has officially ended the disaster management transition period that had been in place since January 2026. The province is now entering a rehabilitation and reconstruction phase, supported by a Rp58.9 trillion budget from the central government to accelerate recovery. Vice Governor Fadhlullah stated on 28 September that the end of the transition period does not mean all disaster impacts have been fully addressed. He emphasised that the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase marks the beginning of permanent infrastructure development and comprehensive recovery across Aceh.
