Aceh Besar Regency Allocates Rp20 Billion to Develop Outermost Island
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Aceh Besar Regency Government has allocated funds amounting to Rp20 billion in the 2026 fiscal year to support the development of strategic infrastructure, such as roads and irrigation, on the outermost island.
“The development of infrastructure on the outermost island, namely Pulo Aceh Subdistrict, is a form of the local government’s commitment to accelerating development in the island region,” said Aceh Besar Regent Muharram Idris in Pulo Aceh on Tuesday.
He stated that he had inspected several construction sites in Gampong Lhoh, Gampong Serapong, and the irrigation area in Pulau Breuh, Pulo Aceh Subdistrict.
“All these projects are in the tender preparation stage. We aim to complete their implementation this year,” said Muharram.
He detailed that the development includes the road section from Gampong Lhoh to Gampong Lampuyang, spanning 650 metres with a width of four metres, complete with shoulders on both sides, with a budget ceiling of Rp3.76 billion.
Furthermore, the road section from Gampong Gugop to Serapong will be built over 1,750 metres with similar specifications, with a budget of Rp7.84 billion.
In addition to road infrastructure, the Regent also reviewed plans for the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks, covering the rehabilitation of a 573-metre floor, repairs to a 213-metre channel, installation of 600 metres of water supply pipes, and the construction of one borehole unit in Gampong Ulee Paya, with a total budget of Rp570 million.
“With this irrigation channel development, the water needs to irrigate 46 hectares of rice fields in two villages can be met. We hope this will encourage farmers to increase productivity to two harvests per year,” he said.
He emphasised that besides these projects, there are several other physical developments that strengthen the budget in Pulo Aceh Subdistrict.
The Regent requested that all keuchik/village heads and village officials participate in overseeing the implementation of these projects to ensure they proceed according to plan.
“I ask the keuchik and village officials to actively monitor this work. Ensure the quality is maintained and the benefits are truly felt by the community,” he said.
The Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) of Aceh Besar Regency, Syahrial Amanullah, stated that all technical stages of the projects have been meticulously prepared, from planning to procurement processes.
“Technically, we have prepared all supporting documents. Currently, it’s just the tender process, and we are optimistic that physical implementation can start soon according to the set schedule,” said Syahrial.
He added that his side will continue to conduct strict supervision to ensure the quality of the work meets the determined standards.
“We will ensure every job runs according to technical specifications, on time, and provides maximum benefits to the community, especially in Pulo Aceh Subdistrict,” he stated.
