Aceh Besar Accelerates Paddy Productivity on Oplah Land
The Aceh Besar Regency government, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, held the Simultaneous Rice Planting Brigade for Food Security in Gampong Barueh, Kota Jantho District, on Friday, as part of efforts to reinforce food security and support the national self-sufficiency target. Deputy Regent Syukri said the programme is a follow-up to directives from the Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency. The Simultaneous Planting Movement on Oplah land in the II planting season of 2026 aims to support sustainable food self-sufficiency, he added. The event was attended by Dr Asto, the Ministerial Expert Staff for Agriculture, and Dr Agus Susanto, the person in charge of Food Self-Sufficiency. The Aceh Besar Regency continues to boost the agricultural sector, particularly rice production, to meet food needs while improving farmers’ welfare. Syukri noted that rice production in Aceh Besar has shown a positive trend in recent years thanks to the support of stakeholders in the agricultural sector. ‘Alhamdulillah, every year rice production activities continue to yield very encouraging results,’ he said. He added that the Simultaneous Planting Brigade for Food is expected to raise living standards for Aceh Besar residents, many of whom rely on agriculture for their livelihoods. The regional government also urged all related regional apparatus to strengthen synergy and optimise the role of agricultural extension workers in supporting increases in productivity and food production. Syukri emphasised that the agricultural sector is one of the main pillars of regional development, so central government support, particularly from the Ministry of Agriculture, is crucial to accelerating agricultural development in Aceh Besar.
