Account of Indonesian Citizen Escaping Israeli Interception During Global Sumud Flotilla Humanitarian Mission
An Indonesian citizen participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission, Ronggo Wirasanu, has recounted the tense moments when the vessel he was aboard escaped an interception by Israeli soldiers (IDF). He revealed that the ship, the Zepiro, was sailing in Mediterranean waters near Cyprus when the interception attempt occurred. The vessel performed manoeuvres to distance itself from the Israeli naval forces. “Because all the ships were spreading out during the interception this morning,” he told Kompas TV on Monday night. He added that specific details regarding the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia might be difficult to confirm as the ships were dispersed, making communication between them limited. Ronggo is one of nine Indonesian citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla mission. However, it has been confirmed that another Indonesian national, Andi Angga Prasadewa, who was aboard the ship Josef, has been detained by Israeli soldiers. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the Israeli Government to immediately release all vessels and crew members of the international humanitarian mission currently being held.
