Account balance at BNI lost

Our younger sister Y. Hasri Nurtiastuti has a TAPLUS savings
account (No. 037-004785-979901) at the Matraman branch of Bank
Negara Indonesia (BNI) with a balance of Rp 2.4 million. When one
of our parents suffered from a stroke and we needed money to buy
medication, she wanted to withdraw money from her account but the
balance turned out to be only Rp 20,000. Needless to say, this
really shocked us. Where did the money go?

When our sister checked, a BNI official showed her some ATM
withdrawal data. She became even more shocked because her ATM
card has never left her possession or been lost.

The withdrawals took place at the Percetakan Negara branch of
BNI, whereas my sister has only once visited that BNI branch, and
that was for the purpose of depositing money rather than making a
withdrawal. That incident took place after the change of our
sister's account number.

Dear BNI, what is this all about? We very much regret that
savings with BNI are not secure.
