Accor expands into China
SYDNEY (Dow Jones): Accor Asia Pacific Ltd., a unit of French hotel conglomerate Accor Ltd. said on Thursday it will add several hotels to its existing five in China.
The first hotel planned for opening will be Sofitel Zhengzhou, a 400-room property in the capital city of Henan, Accor Asia said in a statement. It is set for opening in June.
Accor Asia will also sign a management contract for a new Sofitel under construction in Jinan, the company said. It's scheduled for completion at the end of this year.
In January 2000, the group's Novotel Pudong Shanghai is scheduled to open. The 306-room property is part of a 50-story, mixed-use building, Accor Asia said.
