Accompanied by Luthfi, Prabowo Inspects MBG and School Revitalisation in Cilacap
Based on his inspection, the MBG programme is running well and smoothly. Even several students gave positive responses to the programme. “The children directly told me that they like the programme. They feel the MBG programme is very helpful, especially in saving expenses,” said Prabowo in a written statement on Wednesday (29/4/2026). On that occasion, Prabowo emphasised that the government will continue to make improvements in the education sector. According to Prabowo, schools play an important role in preparing the nation’s future. “I see enthusiasm from all parties. We will continue to make improvements,” said Prabowo. “Schools are very important, and education is the key to our nation’s revival,” he added. Prabowo also reaffirmed his commitment to giving serious attention to education. He stated that investment in the education sector will continue to be strengthened for the sake of the nation’s future. “Every Indonesian child must receive the best education,” said Prabowo. On that occasion, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stated that Prabowo is giving great attention to improving education facilities. This is done so that the teaching and learning process in schools becomes even better. Luthfi said that support from the central government is also directed towards continuing improvements and construction of school facilities. One of them is through the revitalisation of SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap, which received assistance worth Rp 1.053 billion in 2025. The assistance was used for rehabilitating seven classrooms and constructing three toilet packages. The revitalisation is now complete and can already be utilised by 1,274 students and 98 teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap. “Then he will also add improvements to school construction,” said Luthfi. In addition to physical assistance, the central government also provides digital transformation support in the form of digital interactive boards, laptops, and external hard drives. This assistance is expected to strengthen technology-based learning processes. During the visit, said Luthfi, Prabowo gave a message about the importance of preparing the younger generation from an early age. Education, he said, is an important foundation for building the future of the region and the nation. Data shows there are 303 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units in Cilacap. Of that number, 178 units are operational, 16 units are not yet operational, 107 units are in the preparation stage, and two units are on regional government land. The implementation of MBG in Cilacap has also absorbed 8,667 local workers. Of that number, 7,810 people have become BPJS participants. Meanwhile, the MBG beneficiaries in Cilacap reach 485,083 people, with 402,424 of them being school students. For secondary education, the MBG beneficiaries in Cilacap consist of 5,740 students from six high schools, 24,065 students from 29 vocational high schools, and 562 students from three special needs schools. In Central Java, the number of SPPG units reaches 4,374 units or the second highest in Indonesia after West Java. As many as 4,155 units are operational, while 192 units are still in the preparation stage. The MBG programme in Central Java targets 9,034,839 beneficiaries. That number consists of 7,725,129 students, 38,325 pregnant women, 3,831 breastfeeding mothers, and 1,872,174 toddlers.
