Accompanied by Lampung Governor, Prabowo Inaugurates KH Muhammad Thohir Hospital
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal accompanied Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to inaugurate the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency. The hospital’s presence represents the government’s commitment to delivering equitable health services to coastal and remote areas in Lampung Province. The construction of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir is part of a central government programme to accelerate hospital development, initiated following a proposal by Rahmat to ensure the people of Pesisir Barat and surrounding areas gain closer, faster, and higher-quality access to health services. Rahmat assessed that the hospital marks an important step in strengthening the equal distribution of health development in Lampung, particularly for communities that have long faced limited access to referral hospitals. The hospital was built through the Fast Best Results Programme (PHTC) with State Budget (APBN) support of Rp152.99 billion. Physical construction reached 100 percent completion at the end of 2025, and it is now ready to provide more comprehensive health services to the public. The Lampung Provincial Government continues to push for health sector development with central government support, including Rahmat’s proposal for the hospital’s construction in November 2024, a proposal for an access road to the hospital, and a subsequent proposal for road construction through the IJD in 2026. The provincial government is also encouraging the activation of BPJS services and a renewed BPJS service agreement, along with the fulfilment of specialist doctors for priority services. In terms of capacity, RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir has seen a significant increase from around 98 beds to 137 beds. The hospital is also equipped with modern facilities such as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an Intensive Cardiovascular Care Unit (ICVCU), haemodialysis services, operating theatres, radiology, a laboratory, outpatient services, and Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) rooms. In his remarks, President Prabowo Subianto expressed gratitude for the presence of modern health facilities in Pesisir Barat Regency. According to Prabowo, residents no longer need to travel long distances to receive adequate health services. ‘I am delighted that Pesisir Barat Regency can now access adequate health services,’ Prabowo said in a written statement on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Before the inauguration, Prabowo, along with Rahmat and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, inspected a number of available health service facilities, ranging from the Emergency Department to paediatric, dental, general, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology, and internal medicine clinics. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained that RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir is one of 66 hospitals built by the central government to strengthen regional referral health services. The hospital is projected to be capable of handling the five groups of diseases causing the highest mortality, namely stroke, heart disease, cancer, kidney disorders, and maternal and child health services. In addition to the completed building and service facilities, the government continues to provide modern medical equipment and specialist medical personnel to ensure optimal health services. With the operation of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir, the Lampung Provincial Government hopes that residents of Pesisir Barat, West Lampung, and surrounding areas can access referral health services more easily while reducing the need for patient referrals to Bandar Lampung or outside the region. The hospital stands as evidence of synergy between the central government and the Lampung Provincial Government in realising equitable health development, ensuring that communities in coastal and remote areas receive the same rights to quality health services.
