JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The victim of an alleged rape in Jambi plans to report three police officers to national police headquarters. This step is taken because the three were only given ethical sanctions, despite allegedly playing a role in the incident.

In a press conference with lawyer Hotman Paris in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (14/4/2026), the victim’s legal representative, Romiyanto, said the victim would bring the matter to national police headquarters on Thursday (15/4/2026).

“Let this issue be clear and transparent—who did what and what their roles were,” he stated.

The reporting effort is based on suspicions of involvement by the three police officers: Briptu VI, Bripda MIS, and Bripda HAM. They are said to have been at the scene and assisted the main perpetrator, including lifting the victim.

According to Romiyanto, they had previously requested that the three rogue officers be included in the criminal proceedings. However, to date, their status in the main case remains unclear.

“We are consistent in this; our client, the victim, must get justice because we feel this struggle is not yet over,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hotman Paris stated that the report to national police headquarters would be prepared immediately to clarify the case, particularly regarding the roles of the three police officers.

“The presence of the victim here is to protest why the three rogue officers who had roles in connection with the rape were not processed criminally, only subjected to the code of ethics,” Hotman said.

According to him, the roles of the three officers could potentially fall into the category of assisting or facilitating a criminal act.

“If rape carries a 12-year sentence, those who facilitate it could face two-thirds of that,” he said.

Briptu VI, Bripda MIS, and Bripda HAM underwent an ethics hearing on Tuesday (7/4/2026). They witnessed and briefly assisted the four main perpetrators in lifting the victim from the house into the car.

In the hearing, they were found to have violated as police officers, failing to report violations of the police code of ethics/discipline/criminal acts, and jointly conspiring to buy and consume alcoholic beverages.

In addition to special placement sanctions, Briptu VI, Bripda MIS, and Bripda HAM were also required to apologise verbally in front of the ethics hearing of the National Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) and must undergo one month of mental guidance and professional knowledge training.

“The alleged violators’ behaviour was declared disgraceful,” said the Head of Public Relations of Jambi Provincial Police, Commissioner Erlan Munaji, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
