Accident Rates During 2026 Eid Exodus Decline, DPR Praises Performance of Police Chief and Traffic Corps Head
Jakarta, VIVA – Member of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Soedeson Tandra, has expressed appreciation to Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Traffic Corps Head of the National Police Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, along with their teams, for the successful security of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return flows in 2026, which proceeded smoothly and under control.
“Yes, firstly, we certainly extend our appreciation and the highest recognition to the Police Chief and the Traffic Corps Head, who have worked hard to reduce the accident rates,” said Tandra, quoted on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
Tandra hopes that this positive achievement can be maintained and improved in the implementation of homecoming security in subsequent years. He also extended appreciation to the regional police chiefs along the main homecoming and return routes for Eid al-Fitr.
“Certainly, we request that this achievement be maintained, even enhanced, so that year by year the accident rates decrease further. And also extend recognition to the regional police chiefs throughout Java,” he stated.
He also conveyed appreciation to the ranks of the regional police who have worked diligently in securing the homecoming flows, including the East Java Regional Police, Banten Regional Police, Central Java Regional Police, Special Region of Yogyakarta Regional Police, and Bali Regional Police.
“The East Java Police Chief, Banten Police Chief, Central Java Police Chief, the one in Yogyakarta. We extend our appreciation to our friends in the National Police who have worked hard,” he added.
In addition to offering appreciation, Tandra also highlighted the vehicle queues that occurred at Gilimanuk Port. According to him, this matter needs to be addressed collectively through cross-sectoral coordination to be anticipated in future homecoming periods.
“Well, this certainly requires cross-sectoral coordination so that there are no more long queues. This year, the queues at Gilimanuk were indeed long because they coincided with Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr,” he said.
He hopes that similar incidents can be anticipated with better planning and coordination moving forward.
“So, the Muslim friends in Bali left before Nyepi. That caused the queues. Please anticipate this,” he said.
Meanwhile, Traffic Corps Head of the National Police Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return flows in 2026 generally proceeded under control, with no prominent incidents occurring during the homecoming period.
