Accident caused Filipino's death

NABIRE, Irian Jaya: A Philippine business consultant's death
was caused by accident, the Paniai Police said yesterday.

Announcing the result of a three-month investigation, Paniai
Police Chief Maj. Simanjuntak said Rodrigo de la Cruz, 47, fell
to his death in last November while working at a timber project
site, the Antara news agency reported.

Early suggestions that Cruz was assaulted and killed were
groundless, Simanjuntak said.

Cruz, 47 years old, was working as a consultant for PT Kaltim
Hutama, a private timber company. He died at the company's nearby
Kwatisore base camp on Nov. 19.

Simanjuntak said the autopsy and testimony from two workers
who were close to Cruz, and a number of other company employees
indicated that he died an accidental death. (imn)
