Access to Soekarno-Hatta Airport Now Possible via Ancol Timur–Pluit Harbour Road Toll

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Access to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is now easier with the presence of the Harbour Tol Road (HBR) II section connecting the Ancol Timur area to Pluit.

This project is expected to serve as an alternative route for road users to avoid traffic density heading to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Project Manager HBR II, Hari Purnama, revealed that the construction of this toll road faced several challenges, particularly because it is located in a dense and active urban area.

“For the Jakarta area, there are indeed several challenges. The first is related to traffic management, where we are working in an area of active toll roads or national roads,” he said during a media visit to Tol HBR II, Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).

Hari explained the presence of various utilities that must be adjusted, from pipes to cable networks.

“Underground, there are several conditions such as utilities that we have to adjust, like PKN pipes, gas pipes, then optical cables and also cables from PM. We are trying to adjust the structural design so as not to disturb the utilities, and if necessary, relocation will be carried out,” he said.

In terms of construction progress, Hari mentioned that on the western end of the southern side of the project, about one kilometre of work remains towards the Pluit direction.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the project, the dense surrounding environment also became a consideration in determining safe construction methods.

He added that Harbour Road II will later reconnect with Harbour Road I in the area of the exit before connecting towards the airport. This integration is expected to smooth connectivity to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Meanwhile, from the northern side, the land acquisition process is still ongoing, particularly in certain areas that will close existing road access.
