Access to Financing Key to Halal Industry Development
Access to financing has become a critical requirement for the development of the national halal industry. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is encouraging the involvement of the banking sector to broaden access to financial services for halal industry participants.
This was highlighted during the Halal Indo 2026 event held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, on Friday (25/09/2026). As part of the agenda, the Ministry of Industry’s Halal Industry Centre and PT Maybank Indonesia Tbk initiated a Letter of Intent (LoI) for Halal Industry Development Synergy.
The Head of the Ministry of Industry’s Halal Industry Centre, Dewi Setiawati, stated that financing support must be tailored to the specific needs of industrial development. Funding is required to support increased business capacity, market expansion, and the strengthening of supply chains.
“The halal industry requires financing support that aligns with industrial development needs. Through this synergy, we aim to accelerate the creation of wider access for industry players to financial services, while simultaneously strengthening the connectivity between the industrial sector and the financial ecosystem,” she said in a statement on Saturday (26/09/2026).
The collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Maybank covers the facilitation of Sharia financing, capacity building for business actors, facilitation of halal certification, and the expansion of access to both domestic and international markets.
In addition to the partnership with Maybank Indonesia, the Halal Indo 2026 series also featured the signing of a cooperation agreement between Gallant Venture Ltd and Maybank Singapore Limited regarding the development of the Bintan Inti Halal Hub, a halal ecosystem, and Sharia banking services.
The Ministry of Industry has previously designated the Bintan Inti Halal Hub as one of Indonesia’s Halal Industrial Zones. This area is intended to support the production, development, and distribution of halal products while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the international market.
