Access to Cadas Pangeran Road, Previously Blocked by Landslide, Now Passable for Vehicles
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – The access road to Cadas Pangeran in Sumedang Regency, which was blocked by a landslide on Wednesday night (8/4/2026), can now be traversed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles since Thursday early morning (9/4/2026). Officials are still monitoring to anticipate follow-up landslides.
“It can already be passed, at 05.00 WIB, by both four-wheeled vehicles and two-wheeled ones,” said Pranata, the Public Relations Expert of the West Java Provincial Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Hadi Rahmat, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
He stated that BPBD personnel from West Java and Sumedang are still monitoring the Cadas Pangeran route due to concerns over potential follow-up landslides. They are urging the public to be cautious when passing through the route.
“As long as there is still potential for rain. If it rains, do not pass through Cadas Pangeran for fear of landslides,” he said.
Previously, heavy rain that occurred on Wednesday afternoon (8/4/2026) until night caused a landslide on the Cadas Pangeran Road in Sumedang Regency. As a result, access for two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles, and large vehicles could not be traversed.
Two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles as well as large vehicles were directed to take alternative routes. Meanwhile, officials are still carrying out efforts to evacuate landslide material.
“The landslide covered the entire access to the lower Cadas Pangeran Road until 19.00 WIB, rain was still ongoing,” citing a statement from the Sumedang District Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Wednesday (8/4/2026).
The Sumedang BPBD asked the public to seek alternative routes because follow-up landslides were still occurring in the landslide area. Subsequently, landslide handling will use heavy equipment.
Information gathered indicates that access for two-wheeled and large vehicles was diverted to the Pamulihan Toll Road. Pranata, the Public Relations Expert of the West Java BPBD, Hadi Rahmat, confirmed the landslide blocked access to the Cadas Pangeran Road in Sumedang. He said that Sumedang BPBD personnel were handling it.
“Sumedang BPBD is handling it, the West Java Provincial BPBD team is heading to the location,” he said when confirmed.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that during this transition period, the public is advised to be alert to extreme weather by not sheltering under trees, billboards, or near vulnerable buildings during incidents.
In addition, remain vigilant against potential hydrometeorological disasters in the form of floods, landslides, and strong winds that cause falling trees and hail. “The public is advised to be alert to extreme weather and disasters,” said the Head of BMKG Bandung, Teguh Rahayu.
