Access Road to Rawa Malang City Forest in Malang Needs Improvement to Maximise Visitor Numbers
Coordinator of Internal Security for City Forests across Cilincing, Heriyana, stated that improvements to the access road leading to Rawa Malang City Forest in Cilincing, North Jakarta, are necessary to maximise the utilisation of the area as a green open space for the public. She assessed that a repaired access road could make it easier for residents to visit the city forest. “The hope is, of course, for this city forest to be maximally beneficial, which requires good access to it so that people in North Jakarta can reach here,” she said when met by Kompas.com at Rawa Malang City Forest on Wednesday (22/4/2026). “Compared to other city forests in Cilincing sub-district, namely Cilincing City Forest, Rorotan City Forest, and especially Sopapura City Forest, visits to Rawa Malang City Forest are the lowest. Perhaps because the access is not good,” she added. According to her, a visitor to Rawa Malang City Forest would not feel like they are in Jakarta. “You can feel the cool air, no heat under the shade of the trees. So that should be very beneficial for the people of North Jakarta, especially Cilincing,” she said. Meanwhile, a staff member at Rawa Malang City Forest, Saddam, hopes that the access road to the area can be repaired soon. “The hope is that the relevant government parties or the provincial government, or the related agencies, can improve and fix the road access. So that residents can be more comfortable coming here for tourism,” he said on the same occasion. “The potential is actually very large, with a lot of great potential for tourism,” he added. Previously reported, in the midst of the Cilincing area in North Jakarta, there is a city forest covering about 5.7 hectares. The area is Rawa Malang City Forest, which has been gradually cleared and planted with trees since 2012. Despite its large area, the city forest remains relatively quiet with few visitors due to inadequate access roads to the location.
