PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has reported that its digital ecosystem, Access by KAI, is increasingly becoming the primary channel for customers to plan, book, and manage their rail journeys. During the first half of 2026, Access by KAI processed 17,009,374 transactions for main and local train services, equivalent to 76.34 percent of total transactions across all ticket sales channels. In terms of passenger volume, the platform served 24,544,468 customers, representing 73.68 percent of the total 33,313,364 passengers for main and local train services. This achievement indicates that customers are increasingly accustomed to using KAI’s official service to meet their travel needs from the planning stage onwards.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that Access by KAI was developed as a travel ecosystem that provides broader convenience for customers. ‘We developed Access by KAI as a digital railway travel ecosystem. Customers can search for schedules, book tickets, make payments, manage tickets, and obtain travel information through a single official KAI application,’ Anne said. The performance of Access by KAI was also supported by the growth in customer mobility across the KAI Group during the first half of 2026. From January to June 2026, the KAI Group served 258,993,359 customers, an increase of 7.55 percent compared to the 240,805,920 customers served in the first half of 2025.

Customer growth occurred across several services. KAI’s long-distance and local trains served 29,858,267 customers, up 8.72 percent from 27,463,555 in the same period of 2025. KAI Commuter served 204,151,200 customers, a 6.58 percent increase from 191,540,583. LRT Jabodebek served 16,018,911 customers, a significant 22.84 percent rise from 13,040,403. Whoosh served 2,938,834 customers, the Makassar-Parepare train served 172,011, KAI Airport served 3,482,897, and KAI Wisata served 164,743 customers. Anne explained that increasing customer mobility must be balanced with increasingly user-friendly digital services. Through Access by KAI, customers can access bookings for intercity trains, local trains, LRT Jabodebek, Commuter Line, airport trains, and high-speed rail. The application is also equipped with a Connecting Train feature that helps customers find connecting journey combinations.

For ticket management, customers can use features such as Check & Add Ticket, schedule changes, ticket cancellations, ticket transfers according to regulations, and e-boarding passes. These features help customers manage their journeys more practically without always having to visit a ticket counter. Access by KAI also offers various travel support features, including Trip Planner, Live Tracking, Face Recognition registration, Railpoin, RailFood, taxi and bus integration, KAIPay, PPOB, as well as entertainment services like EoB and Premium Entertainment. These features expand Access by KAI’s function from a ticket booking application to a connected travel ecosystem that meets customer needs before, during, and after the journey.

One of the latest features strengthened by KAI is Train Details. Through this feature, customers can view detailed journey information and train services before selecting a schedule. More comprehensive information helps customers determine the journey that suits their needs, in terms of time, service, and comfort. KAI has also introduced a Female Seat Map to assist female customers in selecting seats with information about other female passengers on the seat map, in accordance with applicable regulations. This feature is part of enhancing the customer experience in choosing seats more comfortably. As of 30 June 2026, the cumulative number of registered Access by KAI users reached 30,449,049. Throughout January to June 2026, there were 3,154,132 new registrations, a 3.77 percent increase compared to the 3,039,456 registrations in the same period of 2025. KAI also recorded 9,058,935 active users as of 30 June 2026 and 4,893,743 Premium Members, or 16.07 percent of total registered users. Cumulative downloads of Access by KAI reached 41,011,320.

According to Anne, the growth in Access by KAI users is an important asset for KAI to strengthen data-driven services tailored to customer needs. Customer feedback from various channels is continuously used to improve the booking flow, enhance application reliability, and introduce features relevant to public travel patterns. ‘We will continue to strengthen Access by KAI as a railway travel ecosystem that is easy to use, informative, secure, and close to customer needs. KAI will continue to make gradual service improvements so that the customer experience becomes better from planning the journey to arriving at the destination,’ Anne concluded.
