Acceleration of protected rice field designation begins in March 2026; check 12 target provinces

The government is targeting the acceleration of protected rice field land (LSD) designation across 12 provinces, among them Jambi, West Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi, in early March 2026, with 17 additional provinces to follow by the end of June 2026. This implementation follows the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 4 of 2026 on controlling the conversion of rice field land. The initiative aims to protect valuable agricultural land from being converted to non-agricultural uses, thereby safeguarding rice production capacity and food security throughout the country.
