Accelerating the Semarang Pantura route elevation project to ease Lebaran 2026 homecoming traffic
An accelerated widening project on the Pantura main line in Semarang–Surabaya, specifically the Kaligawe Raya section in Semarang, Central Java, is proceeding. The Balai Besar Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional (BBPJN) Jateng-DIY of the Ministry of Public Works is fast-tracking works on the national road from KM 3+900 to KM 4+600, with the objective of the pavement being ready to function by 11 March 2026. The move aims to prevent seasonal flooding and to smooth traffic flow for the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah exodus. The work involves compacting concrete barriers and other upgrading tasks along the route, and motorists are advised to expect lane adjustments during construction.
