Accelerating the Implementation of People's Schools, LAN Ensures Sustainable Development
Jakarta, VIVA – The National Institute of Public Administration (LAN) has emphasised its commitment to supporting national strategic policies, one of which is through backing the implementation of the People’s Schools programme.
This was also reiterated when LAN Head Muhammad Taufiq received a working visit from Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf for inspecting the planned initial site for the People’s Schools programme at the ASN Corporate University, LAN Pejompongan, Jakarta.
Muhammad Taufiq stressed that the support provided is part of LAN’s active role in accelerating the implementation of government policies, particularly in human resource development.
“This visit is a very important step and a source of pride for us, as LAN can contribute to accelerating the implementation of People’s Schools. This area has the potential as an integrated education centre that will continue to be developed sustainably,” Taufiq stated, as quoted from his remarks on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
Furthermore, LAN is ready to synergise with the Ministry of Social Affairs and related ministries/institutions, including the Ministry of Public Works, to ensure technical and operational readiness for the People’s Schools programme. This collaboration is expected to speed up the programme’s realisation in line with the government’s set targets.
With strengthened cross-sectoral synergy, LAN is committed to supporting the implementation of the People’s Schools programme as part of strategic efforts to expand access to education and improve the quality of Indonesian human resources.
On that occasion, Social Minister Saifullah stated that this site inspection provides an initial picture of on-the-ground conditions and serves as a basis for formulating plans and preparations for the future implementation of People’s Schools.
“This site provides an initial picture of on-the-ground conditions and serves as a basis for viewing plans and preparations for the future implementation of People’s Schools. After our direct inspection, the facilities at LAN Pejompongan are very representative and suitable for piloting People’s Schools for the people of Jakarta and surrounding areas,” he said.
The implementation of People’s Schools is a direct mandate from the President, to be carried out in stages. In the initial phase, the programme focuses on upper secondary school level (SMA) with a pilot target of around 50 schools. In the future, development will be significantly enhanced along with the expansion of coverage and readiness of facilities and infrastructure.
