PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, participated in the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the first phase of developing Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) facilities, an initiative by the Government as an environmentally friendly waste management solution that also generates clean and sustainable electricity. The cooperation signing, held at the Coordinating Ministry for Food building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 April, is part of accelerating the implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2025 on Urban Waste Handling through Waste Processing into Renewable Energy based on environmentally friendly technology. In this programme, Pelindo is preparing land in the Benoa area, Bali, as the location for the PSEL facility development, in synergy with the Bali Provincial Government and the Denpasar City Government. Pelindo’s Deputy Director, Drajat Sulistyo, stated that Pelindo’s involvement in this project is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the national sustainability agenda while strengthening the role of ports as an environmentally friendly logistics ecosystem. “Pelindo is committed to fully supporting the government’s programme in waste handling through the development of PSEL. We are providing Pelindo’s HPL land in the Benoa area as a concrete contribution from the company to promote more modern and sustainable waste management,” said Drajat, quoted on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. Through cross-sector collaboration between state-owned enterprises and local governments, the development of PSEL is expected to provide a long-term solution in reducing urban waste volume while supporting the transition to clean energy in Indonesia.
