Accelerating Learning Digitalisation, Government Targets 16,557 Schools with Internet Connectivity in 2026
Jakarta – The government is continuing to push the Learning Digitalisation programme as an effort to equalise the quality of national education. One of the steps being taken is providing internet access services in schools so that all students and teachers can optimally utilise digital learning services.
The Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI, Muhammad Qodari, explained that by strengthening internet connectivity and developing a digital learning ecosystem, the transformation of education is expected to proceed more evenly. This applies not only to urban schools but also to Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) regions.
According to Qodari, all educational units must have access to quality, modern, and technology-based education services. Therefore, the government, through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), is targeting 16,557 educational units to receive internet access in 2026.
“In terms of internet connectivity, to support the Learning Digitalisation Programme, in 2025 a total of 8,265 schools were recorded as recipients of internet access. In the planning for 2026, 16,557 educational units are the target for internet access fulfilment,” Qodari stated during a press conference at the Bakom RI Office in Jakarta, cited on Friday, 3 July 2026.
Qodari conveyed that expanding internet access is a strategic step to ensure all students have equal opportunities to access technology-based learning. He explained that currently, the majority of educational units in Indonesia are already connected to the internet, although there are still schools that are a priority for network expansion.
“Nationally, 77 per cent of educational units in Indonesia currently have internet access, while the remaining 23 per cent are still unreached and are the focus of attention going forward,” he clarified.
In addition to strengthening connectivity, the government is also continuing to develop the utilisation of digital learning platforms through the Rumah Pendidikan (Education Home) Ecosystem, which is an integrated platform for combining various digital education services.
“This is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2025 concerning the acceleration of learning digitalisation and the strengthening of quality education services,” he said.
He added that the integration of various digital services is continuously being carried out so that all education stakeholders receive services that are more effective and easily accessible.
“Through the integration of various digital education services, including the merger of Ruang GTK into Rumah Pendidikan since June 2026, this platform is designed to deliver education services that are more accessible, integrated, and efficient for all education stakeholders,” he elaborated.
