Accelerating Industrial Zones: Lamongan Proposes Several Strategic Projects

The Lamongan Regency Government, East Java, has proposed several strategic projects to the central government to support the accelerated development of industrial zones within the regency. This initiative stems from Lamongan’s significant potential to serve as an economic growth hub within the Gerbangkertosusila region.

This was stated by Regent Yuhronur Efendi following a visit by the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN), Rachmat Pambudy, to PT Lamongan Integrated Shorebase (LIS) in Paciran District on Thursday. To expedite industrial zone development, the Lamongan Regency Government has requested several strategic projects from the central government, including the widening of the Daendels National Road, which connects Manyar District in Gresik Regency to the border of Palang District in Tuban Regency. Additionally, the proposal includes the accelerated construction of the Gresik–Tuban Toll Road and the development of clean water supply systems to support investment and industrial requirements.

The Regent noted that Lamongan’s economic structure is supported by the agricultural sector, which contributes approximately 30 per cent to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB), followed by the manufacturing sector at around 12 per cent. “This potential serves as strong capital for the development of integrated industrial zones,” he said. Regarding the investment climate, Lamongan Regency has designated 7,419 hectares for industrial use, with 6,128 hectares of land still available for development as new investment areas. “This port will become one of the pillars of the North Coast (Pantura) industrial zone. We hope for support from the central government to strengthen infrastructure so that the development of Lamongan’s industrial zones can be optimised,” concluded the Regent.
