Accelerating Banking Ecosystem Transformation, BTN Strengthens CASA and Transaction Revenue
PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is accelerating its business transformation steps through the strengthening of its banking ecosystem. This initiative aims to increase low-cost fund collection (Current Account Savings Account / CASA), boost customer transaction volumes, and strengthen sustainable revenue sources (fee-based income) amidst increasingly tight competition for liquidity in the banking sector.
The President Director of BTN, Nixon LP Napitupulu, revealed that the banking industry currently faces both challenges and new opportunities in maintaining national economic growth. Amidst the dynamics of global geopolitical tensions, the banking industry is required to be adaptive and no longer rely solely on traditional funding strategies based on high-interest rate competition. Instead, banks must be able to capture the flow of transactions and the broader, integrated economic activities of their customers.
“Banking competition today no longer relies solely on credit distribution and conventional funding collection. Moving forward, the ability to build an ecosystem and become part of the customers’ daily transaction banking will be the key determining factor in maintaining sustainable business growth,” Nixon stated in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
As of April 2026, BTN successfully recorded positive growth in low-cost funds. The company’s consolidated Current Account and Savings Account (CASA) grew by 8.20% year-on-year as of April 2026, rising from Rp199.65 trillion in April 2025 to Rp216.02 trillion.
Nixon continued that to implement this CASA strengthening strategy, the bank—which focuses on property financing—is leveraging its core strength: the housing ecosystem, which has long been the company’s comparative advantage. This end-to-end ecosystem includes developers, contractors, building material stores, notaries, property agents, housing resident communities, and the entire network of derivative businesses connected to the real estate sector.
Through a comprehensive ecosystem approach, BTN is no longer limiting itself to home ownership financing (KPR). The company is now expanding its service portfolio to a wider range of financial activities, such as payroll services, Cash Management Systems (CMS) for corporate cash management, digital banking solutions, working capital financing for businesses, and the provision of integrated financial solutions for communities within that ecosystem.
