Jakarta, VIVA – The Agency for Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy (LKPP) is committed to continue regulating and refining the governance of Government Goods/Services Procurement in Villages (PBJ Desa) to accelerate village-level development.

Head of LKPP, Sarah Sadiqa, hopes this effort can build a procurement ecosystem that is transparent and professional, to strengthen corruption prevention.

‘Thus every rupiah of village funds can have a tangible impact on the welfare of the people,’ Sarah said in a statement on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

She emphasised that PBJ Desa has a far broader role than merely a village government procurement process. According to her, PBJ Desa becomes a strategic instrument in driving village development and economic growth.

Among other things, through transforming village budgets into physical infrastructure, public services, and targeted empowerment programmes aligned with community needs. By prioritising domestic products and village business actors, the circulation of the economy will yield a multiplier effect on community economic growth.

‘PBJ Desa is an enabler of village development and economic growth. Because through procurement, village budgets can provide tangible benefits for communities and strengthen the quality of village development,’ said Sarah.

‘Through community empowerment and involvement of local providers, village communities are not only beneficiaries but also part of the development process itself,’ she added.

Sarah added that challenges in implementing PBJ Desa remain a serious concern. She also highlighted the high vulnerability of corruption offences, as reported by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) in 2024.

In that report, ICW showed that the village sector ranked highest in the frequency of corruption offences nationwide. Meanwhile, official data from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2025 show corruption offences also occur widely in the PBJ Desa sector.

‘Improvements to procurement governance must be carried out systematically. This is not solely the responsibility of one party. But with strong collaboration with KPK, Kemendesa, law enforcement agencies, and all stakeholders. We are optimistic that procurement governance in villages can become increasingly transparent, accountable, and capable of preventing corruption risks from the outset,’ she said.
