Academics Welcome Meeting Between Jember Regent and Chinese Delegation

Not all regions are capable of attracting the world to witness their potential directly, stated Irfan in a written statement on Friday (5/6/2026). The presence of the Chinese delegation indicates that Jember is beginning to be recognised on the international stage. Jember is no longer merely a peripheral area known only as a tobacco or education city, he added.

According to Irfan, Jember can now be viewed as a region offering economic opportunities, modern agriculture, creative industries, tourism, and human resources with global competitiveness. Regent Fawait was praised by Irfan for successfully communicating these potentials through articulate delivery, from the manner of welcoming the delegation to his speeches.

He noted that Fawait demonstrated the confidence to understand that international relations must be built on the principle of equality. “His handshake was firm. His gaze was full of conviction. His body positioning—in the perspective of modern bilateral communication, these non-verbal symbols carry very strong meaning,” he remarked.

He further noted that international cooperation looks beyond mere statistical comparative advantages; it requires communication built on mutual respect, mutual benefit, and trust.
