Academics Propose Enhancing the Presentation of Museum Collection Information
Jakarta — Academics at the Jakarta Institute of the Arts (IKJ) have proposed using video works that can animate imagination in presenting information about the collection at the Sangiran Early Humans Museum in Central Java. In a seminar held in Jakarta on Friday, Sudibyo, a lecturer in film and theatre at IKJ, stated that films could be used as a medium for conveying information about the museum’s collection in an engaging way that is easier for visitors to understand. He said that technology supports such as artificial intelligence could be used to reduce film production costs in efforts to present history. ‘Not only speaking of the past, but for the future to provide inspiration,’ he said. Cultural critic, writer, performer, and acting coach Jose Rizal Manua said that visual arts could be used to illustrate the activities of ancient humans in the past, such as hunting and gathering. ‘That could also be optimised to visualise artefacts from Sangiran,’ he added. He also stressed the importance of support from various parties in efforts to promote the collection of relics from the past at the Sangiran Early Humans Museum.
