Academics assess Prabowo's presentation provides understanding of statecraft philosophies
A number of academics from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Yogyakarta have assessed that President Prabowo Subianto’s presentation at the National Symposium provided participants with an understanding of various philosophies of statecraft at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (26/6).
UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Rector Mohammad Irhas Effendi, in a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday, assessed that President Prabowo’s presentation offered a comprehensive overview of the different philosophies of statecraft to the symposium participants. According to him, the President’s explanation regarding ideology, economics, and realism provided an understanding that every country has different approaches and characteristics in running its government.

Irhas expressed hope that Indonesia can adopt the best values from these various approaches to strengthen national development. He also stressed the importance of the government’s openness to input from all elements of society so that development ideas can be implemented effectively.
The National Symposium, themed “Economic Independence and Indonesian Welfare,” was held in conjunction with the 2026 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI). The event was attended by approximately 2,600 academics from various regions, consisting of rectors, deans, and lecturers from both public and private universities.
Meanwhile, UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Vice Rector Sutarto assessed that the main message captured by academics from the President’s speech was the commitment to realising an economically independent Indonesia capable of improving the people’s welfare. He expressed hope that the President can continue to guide all components of the nation in facing development challenges while achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 target.
On the same occasion, Head of the UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Migas Centre Sayoga Heru said the President’s presentation provided a clearer understanding of the direction of national economic development. According to him, understanding this development vision is important so that universities can translate it into real contributions according to their respective fields of expertise to support national economic sovereignty and independence.
