Jakarta (ANTARA) - Academic and lecturer in Government Studies at Institut Darul Ulum Banyuanyar, Achmad Baidowi alias Awiek, assesses that the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the Fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is the General Chair of PDIP, dispels the notion that PDIP is a disturbance to the government.

He stated that the meeting held at the Presidential Palace is a positive development for the consolidation of the Prabowo-Gibran administration.

“Dispelling the assumption that PDIP will be a ‘disturbance’ to the Prabowo-Gibran government after PDIP previously issued criticisms of the MBG programme and even prohibited PDIP cadres from participating in it,” Awiek said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Furthermore, he views the meeting as a replacement for when Megawati was absent from President Prabowo’s meeting with former Presidents and Vice Presidents some time ago.

“The meeting further strengthens the stability of the Prabowo-Gibran government amid issues of Middle East conflict and Indonesia’s membership in the Board of Peace (BoP),” he said.

He added that strong governmental stability will provide leeway for the President to successfully implement national and state development agendas.

“Only through unity can development be achieved. Political differences are settled after the elections; thereafter, once the government is in place, political barriers must be eliminated,” said the former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
