Academic Capability Test 2026 to Measure Literacy and Numeracy Skills
Banda Aceh — Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the 2026 Academic Capability Test (TKA) for primary and secondary school levels aims to measure students’ literacy and numeracy competencies.
“Both levels will be examined in Indonesian Language and Mathematics to assess literacy and numeracy levels,” he said whilst reviewing preparations for the 2026 TKA at UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Peudada in Bireuen District, Aceh Province, on Tuesday.
He explained that the visit to UPTD SMPN 2 Peudada was to ensure TKA preparations proceed smoothly.
“We certainly encourage students to undertake this TKA with honesty and enthusiasm,” he said.
He stated that TKA results will serve as one assessment criterion in the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) merit track.
“We hope for full support from regional governments and all education stakeholders in Bireuen District to ensure the TKA implementation runs smoothly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mathematics teacher at UPTD SMPN 2 Peudada Dewi Nofita said that the use of Digital Interactive Boards (PID) has greatly assisted her and students in preparing for the TKA.
According to her, this media encourages teachers to create questions with creative visuals and prevents students from becoming bored when working on questions or deepening their understanding of material.
For TKA preparation, students have been engaging in material review since the beginning of the second semester.
“We provide 10 hours of study time per week for each of these two subjects in rotation. Preparations are going very well and we hope our students achieve the best results,” said Dewi.
