Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) states that the Academic Ability Test (TKA) helps international schools measure student achievements in accordance with national education standards.

Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat emphasised that all educational processes must be directed towards achieving quality learning as the primary goal.

“What needs to be continuously done is to realise the vision and mission of Kemendikdasmen, which is to realise Quality Education for All. So, the orientation is on the quality of learning and the quality of educational outcomes,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Atip explained that TKA is part of evaluation efforts to identify various shortcomings in the educational process, from teacher competencies and teaching methods to supporting facilities that need improvement.

“TKA is to evaluate what is lacking that must be improved. The goal is the same, so that education is of higher quality, because without evaluation, we will never be able to know where the shortcomings are. What are the shortcomings of the teachers, then also the teaching methods, and even the facilities that must be available are also evaluated. Therefore, monitoring and evaluation (monev) of the implementation of TKA is carried out,” said Atip.

“It is hoped that this TKA can continue to run so that we can measure students’ abilities according to government curriculum standards,” he added.

Furthermore, he revealed that parents’ enthusiasm for the implementation of TKA is quite high because they can see how far their children’s abilities are measured against national standards.

Meanwhile, Fani from the Curriculum Section of SD Intan Permata Hati said that TKA is an important evaluation tool that not only measures student learning achievements but also serves as material for teachers’ reflection in assessing mastery of material and determining follow-up learning actions.

“TKA is to evaluate students’ learning so we hope they can give their best, and teachers can also evaluate if there are scores that need assistance, we can provide more,” said Fani.
