Abused by Ciputra Hotel

On the morning of Feb. 17, my car was hit by a Ciputra Hotel van along Jl. Arjuna Selatan in West Jakarta, not far from the Indonesia Esa Unggul University campus.

After the accident, the hotel management said it would be responsible for any damage to my car and would pay me for the damage.

On Feb. 19, my friend and I went to the hotel office to collect a taxi voucher as promised as compensation for the damage to my car, which I could not drive while repairs were being done.

Unfortunately, the hotel management treated us rudely. An expatriate manager, for example, arrogantly and haughtily took some money out of his wallet and, while thrusting some banknotes at us, said: "How much do you need?"

Then one of the hotel managers pushed my friend. Right afterward, some hotel employees surrounded us. We were very much offended by these insults. We did not come to beg. We came to demand that our rights be honored.

Because this incident took place in the lobby of the hotel, it drew the attention of many guests.

Unfortunately, the person who promised to give me a taxi voucher was not in his office when we arrived.

It is really sad, ironic and regrettable that the good reputation of the hotel has been so easily tarnished by such a small matter like a taxi voucher.
