Absorbing Public Aspirations, DPRD DKI Jakarta Conveys Reses Results

The Jakarta DPRD continues to prioritise its role as a representative of the people by actively absorbing public aspirations in line with on-the-ground conditions. Through working visits, recesses, and direct dialogues, various inputs from residents are collected as material for formulating more targeted policies. This approach is expected to ensure that every programme and policy truly addresses community needs and delivers tangible impacts on improving the quality of life for Jakarta residents. This was reflected in the presentation of the results of the second reses of Session Period II for the 2025–2026 year during a plenary meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Jakarta DPRD, Basri Baco, on Monday, 30 March 2026. One issue receiving serious attention is the prevention of illegal waste dumping. Together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Basri Baco stated that the Jakarta DPRD continues to push strategic measures, from strengthening supervision and optimising waste collection services to public education. These efforts aim to provide sustainable solutions while creating a clean and healthy environment. “Cross-sector collaboration is also key to resolving this issue. Synergy between government, authorities, and the community can curb illegal waste dumping practices that still frequently occur at several points,” he said. Nevertheless, a persuasive approach alone is deemed insufficient. Firm action is needed against individuals proven to dump waste indiscriminately. Consistent enforcement of regulations, he said, can provide a deterrent effect and serve as a warning to others not to commit similar violations. “Comprehensive and sustainable handling efforts are a shared commitment to realising a clean, orderly, and liveable Jakarta,” he stated. Several locations highlighted for illegal waste dumping include Jalan Menteng Tenggulung, Jalan Serdang Baru XII Kemayoran, Jalan M. Saidi Petukangan Selatan, Jalan Kebon Kacang Tanah Abang, and Jalan Wates 2 Penggilingan. Therefore, the DPRD also urges relevant agencies to increase supervision to prevent illegal waste dumping practices. In addition to waste issues, Basri Baco said, the Jakarta DPRD has noted basic community needs related to environmental order and safety. From fire prevention to supporting facilities for residents. “Thus, the procurement and addition of APAR and water hydrants at several residential points are needed to enhance safety from fire hazards,” he said. His side also highlighted the need to improve traffic safety and street lighting in several areas. Moreover, general order issues such as illegal parking and business activities on road shoulders have also been a focus in the reses results. “Integrated handling of waste, environmental safety, and general order is key to creating a safe, orderly, and comfortable urban environment for the community.”
