Absorbing 3,800 Construction Workers, Gibran Appreciates Jakarta MRT Project
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has appreciated the construction of the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A from Bundaran HI to Kota for absorbing up to 3,800 workers in the construction sector.
“Thank you, Mr Director (of MRT Jakarta), along with the team and especially the construction workers here, approximately 3,800 people. Thank you for working morning, noon, and night so that the construction progress here can follow the timeline,” Gibran said at the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A project in Harmoni-Sawah Besar, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
During his inspection of the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A tunnel at Harmoni-Sawah Besar Station, Vice President Gibran, wearing a light green safety vest and hard hat, was accompanied by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, and President Director of PT MRT Jakarta Tuhiyat.
Gibran assessed the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A station construction project as a collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Ministry of Transportation, which requires synergy to create safe, comfortable, modern, and integrated transportation.
Safe, comfortable, and modern transportation, Gibran said, is one of the priorities of President Prabowo Subianto.
On the same occasion, Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat explained that the absorption of 3,800-3,900 workers does not include other sections.
“This does not include the back-end parts, there is the office, then outsourcing support and so on. This is just on-site, 3,900 workers,” he said.
Based on data as of 25 April 2026, the construction of Jakarta MRT Phase 2A Bundaran HI–Kota has achieved an overall progress of 59.76 percent.
The Bundaran HI–Monas segment is targeted to operate by the end of 2027, while the route to Kota Station is targeted to be connected in 2029.
During his inspection, the Vice President also viewed the achievement of underground tunnel connectivity from Sawah Besar Station to Harmoni, which can now be traversed on foot.
